Man, 51, stabbed to death on Schiedam street

A 51-year-old man died in hospital after getting stabbed on the street in Schiedam on Saturday evening. A suspect is in custody, the Rotterdam police said on X.

The stabbing happened on Hoogstraat at around 7:15 p.m. on Saturday. The victim had a verbal altercation with a passerby shortly before the stabbing, the police said to RTL Nieuws.

First responders resuscitated the man at the scene and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. “We wish his loved ones a lot of strength,” the police said.

The police arrested a suspect but did not share any information regarding their gender or age. The investigation is ongoing.
