Third explosion targets Turkish bakery in Bergen op Zoom
An explosion occurred at a Turkish bakery on the corner of Kamperfoeliestraat and Ericalaan in Bergen op Zoom early Saturday morning, marking the third attack on the business in recent weeks, police confirmed.
The explosion, which took place around 1 a.m., caused a fire that heavily damaged the property. No injuries were reported.
The bakery was previously targeted on December 29 when an explosion, believed to have been caused by a fireworks bomb, damaged the building. During New Year's Eve, heavy fireworks were set off at the location, prompting Mayor Margot Mulder to issue a prohibition on gatherings near the site.
Police suspect the explosions were intentional and are investigating potential connections between the incidents. "We are treating this as deliberate and are working to determine the motive and those responsible," a police spokesperson said.
