The Royal couple,Prime Minister Schoof pay tribute to former U.S. President Jimmy Carter

The Dutch royal couple and Prime Minister Dick Schoof have separately paid tribute to former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 100. In a message shared on social media, the king honored Carter’s legacy, emphasizing his dedication to peace and social justice.

"Driven by an unwavering belief in the positive power of people, he worked tirelessly for peace and social justice," wrote King Willem-Alexander on behalf of himself and Queen Máxima.

The royal couple also highlighted Carter’s humanitarian efforts following his presidency, which lasted from 1977 to 1981. "After his presidency, he continued, alongside his wife, to tirelessly advocate for the peaceful resolution of conflicts," their message continued.

The king praised Carter’s empathy, noting his ability to connect with people. "With his optimism and empathy, he touched the hearts of people and strengthened mutual understanding. The international community owes him immense gratitude."

Prime Minister Dick Schoof also paid tribute to former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, "an unflagging and amiable fighter for peace and human rights."

In a statement on X, Schoof described Carter as "kind and persistent," qualities that will ensure his legacy lives on in the memories of many. "My thoughts are with his loved ones," the prime minister added, offering condolences to Carter’s family and friends.

Carter, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002, was widely recognized for his efforts in promoting human rights, advancing peace negotiations, and championing global health initiatives throughout his life.
