Four trucks destroyed in suspicious blaze at transport company in Oss

A fire early Sunday morning destroyed four trucks and a trailer at a transport company in Oss, with authorities suspecting arson. The blaze, which broke out around 1:30 a.m. at Van Bakel transport company on Tubantenweg, also damaged the company’s building.

No one was injured, including several people who were sleeping in a nearby building, which could have been impacted by the flames. Firefighters responded to the scene shortly after receiving the alarm, but by the time they arrived, the fire had already engulfed the vehicles. Despite efforts to control the blaze, the four trucks and trailer were completely destroyed, while two other trucks were saved after being moved in time.

Witnesses reported hearing loud explosions caused by the tires of the trucks catching fire. Firefighters worked tirelessly, gaining control of the fire by 3 a.m., though they spent an additional two hours extinguishing the last remnants of the flames.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and suspect arson. Police have reviewed footage from surveillance cameras, which shows two individuals walking away from the scene shortly after the fire began. “At the moment the fire broke out, they were walking away from the area,” the police stated. They are now searching for the suspects and have called on the public to provide any relevant information.

A police spokesperson said, "You can't imagine what could have happened if the fire had spread to the nearby building where people were sleeping. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.”

In addition to the damage to the vehicles, the fire spread to the warehouse where the trucks were parked. Firefighters managed to prevent the warehouse from being completely destroyed, but several trucks inside were damaged. The exact total damage is still under investigation.

The police continue to search for the suspects, who are believed to be two men. "We are looking to speak with anyone who may have seen something suspicious in the area," authorities said.
