Amsterdam Dance Event kicks off on Wednesday; 29th edition to run for five days
The 29th edition of the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) kicks off Wednesday in Amsterdam. Over the next five days, more than a thousand music events will take place across over 200 locations throughout the city. Last year, the electronic music festival drew a record 500,000 visitors.
The event opens with five different concerts on Wednesday, including performances by Eefje de Visser at the Van Gogh Museum and a performance by the Metropole Orchestra at the Melkweg. Later in the week, performances will take place at unique locations such as the Zuiderkerk, the A'DAM Tower, the former Bijlmerbajes prison, and the Hollandsche Manege.
During the Amsterdam Music Festival (AMF) on Saturday at the Johan Cruijff ArenA, DJ Mag will announce its top 100 ranking of the most popular DJs. Martin Garrix and Armin van Buuren have previously held the title of the world’s most popular DJ. The British magazine’s ranking event returns to Amsterdam after a three-year absence.
The AMF will feature performances by Tiësto and Garrix, among others. Additionally, Tomorrowland will celebrate its 20th anniversary on Saturday with a sold-out party at the Ziggo Dome.
ADE runs through Sunday.
