Over 3,000 artists slated to perform at Amsterdam Dance Event this month
There will be over 3,000 artists performing at the 29th edition of the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) this year. The organization of the music and conference festival was announced on Tuesday, along with the names of several additions.
The new artists include Pete Tong, ARTBAT, Colin Benders, Richie Hawtin, Stephan Bodzin, Kölsch, and Âme. The artists will perform and do DJ sets at thousands of events spread out over more than 200 locations in the capital. ADE takes place from Wednesday, 16 to Sunday, 20 October.
The festival starts with the ADE Arts & Culture Openingsconcerten. One of these concerts consists of Eefje de Visser playing unplugged in the glass atrium of the Van Gogh Museum. In addition, platform 24classics is organizing the show Phillip Glass by Lavinia Meijer and Nikki Hock in the Zuiderkerk, where Meijer's classical music will be combined with Hock's audiovisual works.
As is tradition, the Melkweg will welcome the Metropole orchestra, which will perform with Miguel Atwood-Ferguson this year as a tribute to hip-hop producer J Dilla.
ADE attracted a record number of 500,000 visitors last year, breaking the previous record of 450,000 people.
