Eefje de Visser performance in Van Gogh Museum 1 of 4 special ADE opening concerts
The Amsterdam Dance Event will kick off this year with four special opening acts, the ADE organization announced on Thursday. The first will be a performance by Eefje de Visser and others in the Van Gogh Museum. There will also be an audiovisual performance in a warehouse on the NDSM wharf, two performances in the Bimhuis, and the Metropole Orchestra will perform on opening night for the eighth time.
The ADE organization described the Eefje de Visser show as an intimate, unplugged performance in the Van Gogh Museum’s enclosed atrium. The artist will perform her songs in the purest form, without amplification, and only accompanied by a guitar, a piano, and some vocalists.
Audiovisual artist Nick Verstand will perform classical music with the Cello Octet Amsterdam in the Door Open Space warehouse on the NDSM wharf. ADE called the show, Cocon II, an immersive interplay between musicians and eight robot arms.
In the Bimhuis, free jazz singer Greetje Bijma and electronic music artist Oceanic will perform an improvise show together. After their set, British producer LUXE will perform a mix of classical and electronic music.
And the Metropole Orchestra will perform the work of J Dilla, one of the world’s most influential hip-hop producers, with composure and multi-instrumentalist Miguel Atwood-Ferguson. This year will be the eighth time the Metropole Orchestra performs on the ADE opening night.
In addition to the opening concerts, ADE also announced several parties on its opening night. In the Ziggo Dome, for example, the Italian duo Tale of Us will team up with the organization behind Tomorrowland for the Afterlife party, which will include holograms projected above the audience and a large light show. Chris Avantgarde, Cassian, and Colyn will also perform.
The Amsterdam Dance Event will be held from October 16 to 20 at various locations in the city.
