Lots of traffic on the roads around Amsterdam again due to road closures
The roads around Amsterdam are busy again, as two motorways were closed for roadworks. This concerns the A9 from Alkmaar towards Diemen between the Badhoevedorp and Holendrecht junctions towards Utrecht and Almere. The A10 Zuid is also closed between the Amstel and De Nieuwe Meer junctions, towards Schiphol.
An accident occurred on the outer ring of the A10 on Sunday afternoon at the Watergraafsmeer junction. As a result, two lanes were closed, Rijkswaterstaat reported.
Due to a malfunction at the Houtribsluizen, the Markerwaarddijk, the N307, is closed. The malfunction is expected to last for several hours. Saturday was busy with diversions from Noord-Holland trying to bypass the capital via this dike between Enkhuizen and Lelystad.
Sheet piles are being driven along the A10 Zuid to allow for the construction of additional lanes. On the A9, the new southern carriageway is being connected to the current motorway. Traffic towards Holendrecht can use this new carriageway from Monday October 7. The closures must be lifted by 05:00 a.m. on Monday.
