Heavy traffic jams around Amsterdam due to road closures
The roads around Amsterdam are very busy on Saturday afternoon. Two roads are closed due to roadworks. The A9 Alkmaar towards Diemen is closed between the Badhoevedorp and Holendrecht junctions towards Utrecht and Almere. The A10 Zuid is also closed between the Amstel and De Nieuwe Meer junctions towards Schiphol.
In addition, there was an accident on the A10 Noord near Zeeburg, which closed three lanes. The ANWB also sees that drivers from North Holland are trying to bypass the capital via the Enkhuizen-Lelystad dike. It is also busy just before Lelystad.
Along the A10 Zuid, sheet piles will be driven in several places this weekend to create extra lanes. On the A9, the new southern carriageway will be connected to the current A9. From Monday, October 7, traffic towards Holendrecht can drive on this new carriageway.
The closures must be lifted by 5:00 a.m. on Monday, October 7. Rijkswaterstaat Traffic Information had already warned of significant traffic disruptions around Amsterdam this weekend.
