Dutch travelers association calls on people to avoid driving to Paris this summer
Dutch travelers association ANWB are calling on people to avoid driving to the roads in and around Paris this summer. The association are following urgent advice from the French police even though the summer’s Olympic Games which will be held in Paris have not started yet.
The roads in and around Paris already have so called Olympic lanes. “For the transport of athletes and coaches or directors,” said a spokesperson of the ANWB Traffic service. These lanes make the already busy roads even harder to drive on.
This advice is only for the duration of the Olympic Games but also up to the end of the Paralympics which comes after. This event is held from August 28 to September 8.
"Experience shows that most Dutch people prefer to avoid Paris anyway, but that certainly applies now," says the spokesperson.
To be on the safe side, the ANWB has set up an extra roadside assistance north of the city, which can assist motorists with breakdowns between Lille and Compiègne.
