Arrest made in 2020 Amsterdam nightclub shooting & Rotterdam assassination plot
The police arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of involvement in an attempted murder in Amsterdam and “preparatory actions” to assassinate a 39-year-old man from Rotterdam in 2020, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) announced on Friday. The OM also linked him to an armed robbery and multiple attacks on buildings in 2020.
Last week, the OM announced that it had signed a key witness deal with a suspect in two murders and the attempted murder of a 39-year-old man from Rotterdam. The suspect had agreed to provide incriminating testimony on various cases in exchange for a lighter sentence. The OM did not specifically say that this arrest resulted from that deal, but it seems likely.
According to the OM, the 29-year-old man prepared to assassinate the 39-year-old Rotterdam man in May and June 2020. He was also involved in attacks on the Royal Tours travel agency in The Hague on June 15 and July 10, a shooting at club Mad Fox in Amsterdam on July 29, a shooting at a house in Eindhoven on September 2, an armed robbery of a T-Mobile shop in Beverwijk on October 11, and a shooting at the Little India restaurant in Amsterdam on November 13.
The investigation is ongoing. “The police and OM do not rule out further arrests,” the OM said.
