Oss primary school closed due to threats to final year students

The IKC Regenboog primary school in Oss, Noord-Brabant, will close its doors on Tuesday because students in group eight were threatened online, police said. Several individual reports were filed with authorities, and the school community itself called it a disturbing situation.

Omroep Brabant reported that the students were the subject of death threats. Some students reportedly received photos of bullets with names on them via the Telegram messaging service last Friday.

A photo of firearms was also shared. A police spokesperson said he has "seen those photos," but did not want to comment about the nature of the threats in the context of the ongoing investigation. Nothing is known about where the threats originated.

A municipal spokesperson would not comment on the record about the situation.

It is not known how long the school will remain closed. "We will open IKC Regenboog again if, together with the municipality, we have sufficient confidence in a safe environment for children," reports SAAM* schools, the umbrella organization representing the school community.

Emergency care was arranged at another location for children who cannot be cared for at home.
