Primary school in Oss to remain closed on Wednesday due to threats
Primary school IKC Regenboog in Oss will remain closed on Wednesday, a spokesperson said. The school shut its doors this week because students of group eight, who are around 11 or 12 years old, had been threatened.
The organization will hold talks on Wednesday to determine when the school will be able to open again. The group eight camp, which was scheduled to happen this week from Monday to Wednesday, was canceled due to the threats.
IKC Regenboog reported on Monday that threats to the school's children were sent via social media. The school was already closed on Tuesday, and it was decided to keep it closed on Wednesday, too.
“It is sad that we have to make the decision to close the IKC Regenboog temporarily,” it said on the website of the school community SAAM*scholen, which the primary school falls under. “But safety is an important base for education.”
The organization also shared a statement from the municipality of Oss. The municipality said that it is in contact with neighborhood assistance workers, community policing units, community organizers, and other people from the immediate area. Additionally, the municipality noted that the police investigation is still ongoing.
According to the school spokesperson who works for SAAM*scholen, distance learning has not been organized for the students yet. Teachers are contacting the children or their parents to see how they are doing. The events have had a significant impact on some children, she said.
