S10's team at Eurovision 2022 also reported unsafe atmosphere at the event

The team that accompanied S10 in 2022 during the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, Italy, submitted an official complaint at the time because crew members backstage did not respect her personal boundaries. The singer discussed her experience during the NPO 1 program, Sophie & Jeroen, on Tuesday.

S10 told Sophie & Jeroen that many people were very unprofessional in their work. "We in the Netherlands are very streamlined. People do not ask for your photo backstage, don't film you, or ask for video messages for their cousin or niece. But there, from the cameraman to the person putting your in-ears [headphones] in, they do. That's just really intense," S10 explained.

Someone would walk with her, aiming a flashlight into people's eyes to keep them at a safe distance. "We had to submit an official complaint on the evening of the finals because it just wasn't normal." A spokesperson for AVROTROS confirmed this detail and said that the report was solved instantly.

S10 told various media outlets last week that the atmosphere behind the scenes at the song contest was uneasy and that people constantly wanted something from her.

The broadcaster AVROTROS, which is responsible for the Dutch Eurovision Song Contest delegations, confirmed to ANP that a report was submitted. Earlier this month, the broadcaster also filed an official complaint concerning the atmosphere behind the scenes at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden. Various other delegations also reported that they felt the atmosphere was unpleasant, disconcerting or dangerous.

This happened before Joost Klein, this year's performer representing the Netherlands, was disqualified for an incident involving a camerawoman. It is still unclear what exactly happened during the incident, but police in Sweden have said that it is related to potential violations of criminal law regarding threats.

Klein allegedly made a "threatening gesture" toward the victim because she filmed him despite agreeing not to do so. Police said that the situation did not involve assault or physical contact. The staff member reportedly had a different version of events compared to Klein, and police have interviewed their suspect, victim and witnesses The case could be tried in court next month thanks to an accelerated procedure, police said.
