Heemskerk shooting: One person hurt, two teenaged boys at large
One person was found injured in Heemskerk after a shooting incident, police said on Friday. Shots rang out in the Noord-Holland municipality at around 8 p.m. A manhunt was underway as police sought two suspects who were described as looking like teenagers.
The incident happened at the Beethovenstraat and Dr. Prinsengalerij. Paramedics followed police to the scene in ambulances, and a trauma team was sent by helicopter.
The person with injuries was taken to an area hospital. Police could not confirm whether the individual suffered gunshot wounds, or if they were injured some other way.
Police were looking for two boys of about 16 years of age, who both had a tan complexion. They were described as wearing black Nike tracksuits, and had black helmets from the brand Boxer. They were seen leaving the scene on a black Vespa Sprint scooter with a black front rack.
"Do not approach yourself!" police wrote in a citizen alert released soon after the incident. A police helicopter was flying above Heemskerk as investigators searched for the suspects.
The investigation on the ground was ongoing. The "Beethovenstraat area is cordoned off for a trace investigation."
