Storm damage blocks some roads and public transportation, ferries restart

Damage from Storm Eunice is still blocking a few roads and public transportation lines across the country, but ferry services have resumed. Public transportation lines in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague are experiencing difficulties.

Several roads are blocked due to fallen trees or other damage, travelers' association ANWB said. National infrastructure agency Rijkswaterstaat said there were still a handful of problems on the road, like an overturned truck that prevented drivers from getting from the A5 to the A9.

ANWB advised drivers to check traffic information before driving and watch for a chance of strong wind gusts in the southwest on Saturday evening.

Delays and detours for public transportation

In Amsterdam, operator GVB is experiencing issues with trams 7, 13 and 17, as well as Metro lines 50 and 54, in addition to scheduled maintenance and detours.

"Buses, trams and metros are restarted," said a GVB statement. "Please allow for diversions and delays due to storm damage."

In Rotterdam and The Hague, transport company HTM reports issues on Trams 1, 3 and 9, and bus lines 21 and 25, in addition to scheduled maintenance and detours.

Ferry service resumes

Ferry service between Den Helder and Texel restarted. It was already expected to be busy with Saturday being the first official day of the Voorjaarsvakantie holiday period in the northern region of the Netherlands. The Teso ferry operator said that the waiting time in Den Helder is about one hour.
