Covid-19: Dutch PM to address the nation Monday 7:00 p.m.

An article about the speech was published on NL Times within minutes of its conclusion. A translated version of the full text of his speech was published soon after.

Prime Minister Mark Rutte will address the country at 7:00 p.m. on Monday regarding the situation around coronavirus Covid-19. He will "address the difficult situation in which we find ourselves, the necessity of the measures taken, and the possible further developments in the coming weeks and months", according to government information service RVD.

The speech will be broadcast live by NOS and RTL on television, radio and online. The speech can be followed with a sign language interpreter on NPO Nieuws.

The RVD called this speech an "address to the nation", something the American president does on a semi-regular basis. This is very unusual in the Netherlands, according to NOS. The last time a Dutch Prime Minister "addressed the nation" was during the oil crisis in the 1970s.
