Partial lunar eclipse visible in NL tonight, if weather permits

If the weather cooperates, a partial lunar eclipse will be visible above the Netherlands on Tuesday night. People in the west of the country have the best chance of the clouds clearing in time to see the eclipse, while people in the east will likely be unlucky, Martin Dorrestein of Buienradar said to RTL Nieuws.

Moonrise in the Netherlands will be at 9:48 p.m. By then the initial phase of the eclipse will have been going on for about an hour. The highlight will be at 11:30 p.m. At 2:20 a.m., the eclipse will be over and the moon will sine like normal again.

This is a special date for a partial eclipse. Tuesday is the 50th anniversary of American astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins embarking on their historic moon landing. They were launched on July 16th 1969. Four days later, Armstrong and Aldrin were the first ever people to set foot on the moon.
