Boy, 16, hurt in stabbing at Rotterdam school

A 16-year-old boy was stabbed at a secondary school on President Rooseveltweg in Rotterdam on Thursday. According to the police, he was conscious and talking when he was taken to hospital. Three underage boys were arrested.

The stabbing happened during a fight at a Wartburg College location in the Rotterdam district of Prins Alexander, according to NOS. The stabbed boy attends the school.

Richard Toes, president of the school's board of directors, told NOS that the reason for the stabbing may be a fight between two groups of young people from different schools. A feud started between the two groups recently. "Why exactly is being investigated. But it seems that they have been harassing each other in recent days and that one group came for a confrontation [Thursday]."

The three suspects are from the municipality of Capelle aan den IJssel. They were arrested at home.

On Friday morning, Wartburg College will hold gatherings to discuss the incident with shaken pupils, parents and teachers, Toes said to NOS.
