Explosive in plastic bag found hanging on Urk company's door
An explosive was found at a company in the Westgat business park in Urk on Monday morning. The device was in a plastic bag hanging on the door of company PetsFish, an eye witness said to De Stentor.
Emergency services - police, fire brigade and an explosive disposal team from the Ministry of Defense - responded to the business at around 4:00 a.m. A wide area around PetsFish was cordoned off while the explosives experts investigated. "The Defense explosives clearance service picked up the explosive and later disabled it", a police spokesperson said to the newspaper. The area was released again at 6:30 a.m., though police officers are still investigating at the scene.
The owner of PetsFish was on his way to work on Monday morning when he was denied access to the business park. He had no idea that the commotion was surrounding his business. "I had no idea. I just saw it on photos that are online", Gert Bakker said to the newspaper. He was in the shop until round 6:00 p.m. on Sunday and everything was fine when he left. Bakker told De Stentor that he doesn't know why an explosive was left at his business. "We have no enemies."
