Mother, 7-year-old son killed in head-on collision

A 46-year-old woman and her 7-year-old son were killed in a traffic accident on the N57 near Ouddorp on Thursday afternoon. The car they were in hit a truck head-on. There was also a dog in the car, which did not survive the accident, NU.nl reports.

The accident happened at around 5:15 p.m. The two people in the truck were severely shaken, but unharmed, the police said.

The N57 was closed in both directions for hours due to the police investigation and salvage work. The road opened again at around 9:50 p.m.

The cause of the accident is not yet clear.
