Video: Three cops hurt while arresting aggressive man
Three police officers were injured on Monday afternoon while they were arresting a 30-year-old man in Waalwijk. Two officers in training noticed the man on Stationsstraat because he was hitting cars with a stick. When they asked a third officer for help in arresting him, the man turned on them.
The man kicked at the officers and hit them with his stick. Two officers sustained injuries to their faces. The third hurt his ankle and had to go to hospital for treatment. The police officers eventually felt forced to use their truncheon and pepper spray on the man, and fired three warning shots, according to the police.
The suspect still managed to jump onto the hood of a car and tried to pull a woman out of her car. The man ran onto Julianastraat, where he was overpowered and, with much resistance, arrested.
Why the man was behaving so aggressively, is not yet clear. A bystander filmed the incident and posted the video on social media.
The police are investigating the incident and call on witnesses to come forward. They particularly want to talk to the woman who was almost dragged out of her car by the suspect.
