Mother, four kids rescued from burning Rotterdam home

Firefighters rescued four children, their mother and a dog from a burning home on Oost-Pietermanstraat in Rotterdam on Thursday morning. The family was trapped on the first floor while a fire raged on the ground floor, RTL Nieuws reports.

The mother and one child was taken to hospital for monitoring, due to concerns about smoke inhalation. The other children were checked over at the scene. An animal ambulance took care of the dog.

The fire was quickly under control and extinguished. The residents of adjacent buildings were evacuated and offered shelter by the emergency services while firefighters extinguished the blaze.
