Serious accident near Zuid-Holland town; 5 hurt

Five people were injured in a serious accident involving three cars on the N209 near the Zuid-Holland town of Bergschenhoek on Tuesday evening. Two of the victims are seriously injured. All victims were taken to hospital, the police said on Twitter.

The two seriously hurt people were in a car carrying a 44-year-old woman and her two sons aged 10 and 14, RTL Nieuws reports. The mother and one son were seriously hurt. They're a family from Bergschenhoek.

The accident caused quite a bit of damage on the road. The N209 was closed in both directions for hours.

The cause of the accident is still unclear. The police are investigating.
