Explosion at Doetinchem flat, no one hurt

An explosion woke the residents of an apartment on Beethovelaan in Doetinchem around 3:15 a.m. on Monday. The explosion damaged the home, but no one was hurt, the police said on Twitter

The apartment in question is located on the fourth floor. The police suspect that someone threw or left an explosive at the home. Forensic Investigators are at the scene.

The police and fire department concluded that it was safe for the residents of the apartment, a man, woman and child, to stay in their home for the rest of the night, according to De Gelderlander. They were asleep when the explosion happened and escaped unharmed.

Other residents of the apartment building told De Gelderlander that there is often trouble at this apartment and that the police visited the flat earlier on Monday night. A police spokesperson could not tell the newspaper why officers responded to the home.
