An explosion woke the residents of an apartment on Beethovelaan in Doetinchem around 3:15 a.m. on Monday. The explosion damaged the home, but no one was hurt, the police said on Twitter

The apartment in question is located on the fourth floor. The police suspect that someone threw or left an explosive at the home. Forensic Investigators are at the scene.

A 53-year-old woman from Doetinchem was arrested in connection with a body found during a house fire in her hometown early on Sunday morning. The police are still struggling to identify the victim. An ATM bombing massively damaged the De Bongerd shopping center in Doetinchem during the early hours of Wednesday morning. Part of the shopping center will not open on Wednesday due to the damage, NOS reports.

Local residents were woken by two loud bangs around 3:15 a.m. Witnesses saw men leaving the scene on a scooter. It is unclear whether the robbers managed to steal any money from the ATM. 

The bombing caused major damage to the facade of a pet shop next to the ATM. As far as is known, the animals inside weren't harmed. 

About a dozen homes were evacuated in Doetinchem, Gelderland on Monday morning after burglars used heavy explosives to steal from a Rabobank cash machine. Plumes of smoke hung over the city after the blast, with witnesses first calling emergency services around 4:10 a.m., police said in a statement.

More explosives were found at the scene by a bomb disposal unit, prompting emergency teams to evacuate the area as a precaution. The explosive material was later detonated at another location.

Twelve people were arrested in Doetinchem on Sunday in riots that erupted after the De Graafschap vs Ajax match. Most of those arrested were Ajax supporters upset that their club lost the Eredivisie title, according to the police.

The Public Prosecutor demanded a prison sentence for a 32 year old man and 26 year old woman from Doetinchem in the court in Arnhem today. The two suspects are suspected of human trafficking.
