Woman hurt in fall from football stadium's stands

A woman was seriously injured at football club RKVV Brabantia in Eindhoven on Monday night when she fell from the stadium's stands. She fell several meters to the ground and was rushed to hospital by ambulance, Eindhovens Dagblad reports.

"Nobody knows exactly what happened", Erik Vos, chairman of RKVV Brabantia, said to the newspaper. The woman fell around 8:30 p.m. "It is not known if anyone saw her fall or if someone was with her. The police are investigating and questioned a lot of people."

A football tournament for all the bars on Stratums Eind, the nightlife street in Eindhoven, was held in the RKVV Brabantia stadium on Ritjesweg on Monday afternoon.

"At 7:00 p.m. the prize giving ceremony took place and after that they went to eat at sports bar Brabantia, which is on the first floor of the stadium. There is a terrace attached to it and from the terrace you can climb onto the stands. It is very common for people to take their plate and eat on a chair in the stands", Vos said to the newspaper. He could not say whether this was what happened here.

Nothing is known about the victim's condition.
