Video: Mother saves three kids as car sinks into canal

Frozen ice on the road was the likely cause of a car skidding into a drainage canal in Wanneperveen, Overijssel on Friday. The alert mother who was behind the wheel quickly managed to rescue three kids from the vehicle as it took on more and more water.

She managed to escape out of the vehicle’s window, and then quickly pulled each child out of the vehicle one at a time, according to news outlet De Gelderlander. A family member arrived on scene after the 10 a.m. accident with warm clothing.

All four victims were treated at the scene by paramedics. They were taken to an area hospital with symptoms of hypothermia, De Gelderlander reported.
