Crowdfunding action launched to repatriate British man who drowned in Amsterdam

A friend of a British man wo drowned in the Noordzeekanaal after falling off a party boat last month, launched a crowdfunding action to help pay for the Newcastle man's body to be sent back to Britain, as well as for his funeral.

According to friend Glynn Ferris, Neil Stewart leaves behind a fiance, two children and his mother. Ferris hopes to raise 10 thousand pounds. Any money left over will be fairly shared between Stewart's two children. "I know it isn't anywhere near not having daddy here with them, but at least it will help towards guiding them on a proper path in life", Ferris wrote on the crowdfunding page.

Stewart, 30, was visiting the Netherlands as a tourist. On November 19th he fell off a party boat and ended up in the Noordzee canal. A life jacket was thrown at him, but he disappeared under water. After multiple searches, Stewart's body was found in the water of the Afrikahaven in Amsterdam on Sunday, December 3rd.
