Body of Dutch man recovered under gravel mountain on German excavation site

After a long search, emergency found and recovered the body of a 42-year-old Dutch man from a mountain of gravel in Germany, just across the border from Dinxperlo. Four men were caught in a gravel avalanche while working on the Kieswerk Breels excavation site on Tuesday. Two were rescued with only minor injuries. One is still missing, AD reports.

The Dutch man's body was found shortly before the search was called off around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, according to the newspaper. Emergency services resumed the search for the final missing man around 8:00 a.m. He is believed to be dead.

Dutch company Netterden en Grind BV is one of the companies active on the excavation site. The company is expected to release a statement later today.
