Irish-Dutch drug gang busted
A number of Dutch, Belgians and Irish persons were arrested on Thursday on suspicion of involvement in drug trafficking and money laundering in Ireland. A total of 13 suspects were arrested and the Irish police seized at least 7 million euros worth of cocaine and cannabis, RTL Nieuws reports.
Two men were arrested in Dublin, and a number of people in Amsterdam. According to Het Parool, the Amsterdam detainees are three Dutch, three Belgians and an Irishman. Around 175 kilos of soft drugs, encrypted phones and an amount in cash was seized from a home in the Dutch capital, according to the newspaper.
A spokesperson for the Amsterdam police told RTL Nieuws that they can't comment on the case due to the ongoing investigation. The spokesperson confirmed that arrests were made, but did not confirm that they are connected to the arrests in Ireland.
