Utrecht University named Netherlands best for 15th consecutive year

Utrecht University is the best university in the Netherlands for the 15th year in a row, according to the annual Academic Ranking of World Universities published by the Shanghai University on Tuesday. This year Utrecht University got 47th place, compared to 65th place last year, NU.nl reports

The ranking consists of the 500 top universities in the world. They are ranked based on, among other things, quoted research, entries in scientific journals and achievements. Worldwide the top three universities are, in order, Harvard, Stanford and Cambridge.

Other Dutch universities that made the top 100 in the ranking are the University of Groningen (59th), Erasmus University in Rotterdam (77th) and Leiden University (88th).

The Radboud University Nijmegen, University of Amsterdam, University of Wageningen and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam all made the top 150.
