Baby owl rescued from coal mill in Limburg town

An eagle-owl chick narrowly escaped death in the Limburg town of Eygelshoven on Wednesday. The baby animal somehow found his way into a coal mill. If alert employees hadn't noticed him, there would be nothing of the bird left.

The mill employees quickly turned the machine off and called the local Animal Ambulance, according to AD. One of the rescuers, Rene Coumans, posted a video and photos of the rescue on his Facebook page and was flooded with reactions.

The coal mill was be turned off for the rest of Wednesday and Thursday, while technicians made sure the machine is in full working order. Despite the lack of productivity, the employees don't seem too put out. "Two days of hard work and expensive for the boss, but everyone is happy", one employee said to AD. "We often see the mother, but we've never seen this."

The little eagle owl is doing well, according to the newspaper.
