Police officer in Limburg fired after reports of sexual misconduct
A police employee in Limburg has been fired for serious misconduct. Police said the dismissal followed multiple reports alleging the employee crossed sexual boundaries with partners in private life, including allegations of performing sexual acts against their will.
The employee worked for the police detainee services team responsible for guarding and caring for arrested people. They were dismissed this week after a criminal investigation by the Public Prosecution Service and an internal disciplinary investigation by police.
The Public Prosecution Service decided not to prosecute the employee, saying there was insufficient legal and convincing evidence to secure a conviction in court. “That does not mean that the person who reported the incident is not believed,” the prosecution service said.
Police said employees are expected to uphold high standards because of their public role. “If you work for the police, you have a role-model function,” the force said. “And even in your private life, you are expected to behave in a socially responsible and morally responsible manner.”
