Woman found murdered in Dutch lake was in hiding

Esther Paul, the woman whose body was found in the Veluwemeer on April 30th, was in hiding at a campsite in Biddinghuizen a few days before her death. The police would not comment on why the 43-year-old woman from Almere was in hiding, but can say that she was still alive around 5:00 p.m. on April 29th. The case will be discussed on Opsporing Verzocht on Tuesday, AD reports.

The spot where the woman's body was found was about 8 kilometers from the campsite where she was staying. The police are looking for witnesses.

The police previously announced that Paul was murdered.

According to AD, Paul was the ex-girlfriend of Frank Jan G., who was sentenced to four years in prison in 2011 for cannabis cultivation, leading a criminal organization, money laundering and other offenses. Over the past years Paul was also involved in police investigations into cannabis cultivation.
