Webcam sex extortionist in Amanda Todd case deserves decade in prison: Prosecutor

The Public Prosecutor demanded a prison sentence of 10 years and 8 months against Aydin C. in court on Thursday. C. is suspected of convincing dozens of underage girls to undress in front of their webcam and then blackmailing them with the footage. The Prosecutor went for the maximum sentence demand possible, NOS reports.

The most famous of C.'s suspected victims is Canadian teen Amanda Todd. The 15-year-old girl committed suicide in 2012 shortly after posting a video on YouTube in which she tells how she was extorted for years. Todd's extortion does not form part of this trial. The Canadian authorities want to try C. themselves. Amanda's mother is attending the trial in the Netherlands.

C. is facing a total of 72 different charges, including the production, possession and distribution of child pornography involving 34 minors. He is also suspected of defrauding and extorting five adult me from Great Britain and Australia. C. claims that he is innocent.
