Tribeca named 20th two-Michelin star restaurant in NL; Rijks wins one

Restaurant Tribeca in Heeze was named the 20th two Michelin star restaurant in the Netherlands during a ceremony in the DeLaMar in Amsterdam on Monday. Restaurant Rijks, in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, was given its first Michelin star, the Volkskrant reports.

"Crazy, fantastic", Jan Sobecki, chief chef at Tribeca, responded to the brand new restaurant's two Michelin stars. According to him, the Michelin inspectors showed up only three days after the restaurant open. "I barely knew where the pots and pans were." But he nevertheless impressed. "his preparations are balanced, each bit is sophisticated and provides a wonderful taste experience. In a short time he made Tribeca a top address", Michael Ellis, international director of the Michelin Guides, said.

A total of 5 restaurants in the Netherlands were awarded their first star. In addition to Rijks, Amsterdam restaurants MOS and Bolenius also got their first star. As ditd Cucina del Mondo in Heerlen and Noble in Den Bosch. Dutch restaurants received a total of 106 stars, one fewer than last year. De Librije in Zwolle and De Leest in Vaassen are still the Netherlands' only two three star restaurants.
