Young Dutch parents massively sign up for first aid courses

Young parents in the Netherlands are flocking to first aid courses. They want to be able to save their child's life in case of an emergency, De Stentor reports.

Between 2013 and 2016 the number of people taking first aid courses in the country increased from 9 thousand to about 65 thousand. Belinda van der Graag of Red Cross Netherlands attributes the growth mainly to increased publicity the Red Cross gave to first aid in recent years.

According to an admin assistant for the safety region IJsseland, young parents in particular sign up for first aid courses in her region. She speaks of a growing awareness among young parents.
