Police shoot suspect in leg at Heerenveen parking lot

The police shot a man in his leg in a parking lot on Van Kleffenslaan in Heereveen on Thursday after he threatened bystanders with a knife, a police spokesperson said to the Telegraaf. According to the spokesperson, the man refused to follow officers' instructions, even after several warning shots were fired. He was then shot in the leg. The man was arrested and taken to hospital for treatment. He is not in any life-threatening danger. Why the man was threatening bystanders with a knife is unclear.
