Increased Schiphol security must be better coordinated: Dutch opposition

Opposition parties D66, CDA, SP and PVV are calling for a solid security plan at Schiphol Airport. According to them, the government's current "patchwork" plan against terrorist attacks is unacceptable, the Telegraaf reports. The parties are responding to a plan to get the ground forces to help the Koninklijke Marechaussee - a policing force that works as a branch of the Dutch army - with security at the airport. Extra security measures due to the threat of terrorist attacks has the Marechaussee working on almost permanent overtime. Getting soldiers to help out should offer some relief. According to the opposition parties, this "patchwork" security blanket is not enough to protect the airport and the thousands of passengers traveling through it every day. D66 parliamentarian Salima Belhaj is demanding a structural solution for security at the airport by September.
