Bystanders rescued a 21-year-old woman from sexual assault by a drugged up man on the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal on Saturday night. The perpetrator was handed over to the police and arrested, Het Parool report. The victim was standing on the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal around 8:50 p.m. on Saturday when the man jumped her from behind and forced her to the ground. He pulled down his pants and started rubbing up against the woman. Bystanders intervened and pulled the man of his victim. He vehemently resisted and was injured in the face. The police were called in. The perpetrator was arrested and taken to the police station for questioning, after a visit to the hospital for treatment to his injuries. The woman pressed charges. A police spokesperson told Het Parool that the man was under the influence of narcotics and admitted to using magic mushrooms or truffles.
