Dutch PM predicts financial exodus to Netherlands should Brexit happen

The Netherlands will "no doubt" benefit from an exodus of financial services from London should the Brits decide to leave the European Union in a referendum on June 23rd, Prime Minister Mark Rutte said in an interview with Bloomberg on Monday. But he'd much rather see Britain stay part of the EU. "I want Britain to stay and London to flourish and I think that London and Amsterdam can exist next to each other", the Dutch Prime Minister said. "Obviously it would help Amsterdam in the short term, maybe. But in the longer term, we are all better of with Britain staying a member." Rutte is "convinced" that British voters will see sense and vote against a Brexit, because the economic and geopolitical case to stay in the EU is overwhelming. "I have seen many predictions, I've seen polls that are all counting on the result that they will leave", Rutte said. "It makes absolutely no sense and therefore I count on the collective wisdom of the Brits, and I've so far never been disappointed."
