Corrupt cop officially dismissed

Mark M., the police officer suspected of selling confidential criminal investigation information to criminals, was officially dismissed on Monday. According to the police, the preliminary results of the criminal investigation against M. give sufficient grounds for him to be dismissed. M. worked for the police from 2009 until his arrest in October last year. He was officially dismissed on Monday for "serious dereliction of duty", the police announced in a statement of Thursday. M. damaged at least 10 criminal cases by selling information related to them, Minister Ard van der Steur of Security and Justice said to parliament in January. According to the Prosecutor, M. sold this information in "monthly subscriptions" - he had 48 subscribers who paid him 5 thousand euros a month for information.
