Morning fog, afternoon lightning listed in new weather warnings

On Wednesday morning fog is reducing visibility in some areas of the Netherlands. A code yellow warning is currently in effect in Zeeland, Noord-Brabant and Zuid-Holland. According to the KNMI, fog banks are reducing visibility to less than 200 meters. The fog should clear up during the course of the morning. Maintenance on the A27 towards Utrecht is also causing traffic problems. The highway is closed between junction Almere and Almere-Haven until 8:00 a.m. and traffic is being redirected to the A6 or A1, according to VID. There is already a 11 kilometer traffic jam on the A6 towards Muiden. Parts of the Netherlands can again expect heavy showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday afternoon and evening. Meteorological institute issued a code yellow warning for Gelderland, Noord-Brabant and Limburg, in effect from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Traffic information service VID expects that flooded and slick roads will cause traffic problems. Traffic jams may therefore be longer than usual, especially in the above mentioned promises. The storms that swept across the Netherlands on Monday caused about 10 million euros worth of damage, the Association of Insurers said on Tuesday. According to the KNMI, the stormy weather will last until the weekend at least.
