Netherlands faced the coldest two-day Pentecost holiday since 1951

This year's two-day Pentecost holiday was the coldest the Netherlands had since 1951 and the fifth coldest since temperature measurements started in the country in 1901, according to weather service Weeronline. The maximum temperatures measured at De Bilt on Sunday and Monday were 12.1 and 13.6 degrees respectively. That means the average temperature over both Pentecost days was 12.9 degrees. The coldest two-day Pentecost holiday in the Netherlands ever was in 1940, when the average temperature over both days measured at 11.8 degrees. Sunday was the second coldest Pentecost Sunday ever in the Netherlands. It was even colder than Christmas, which was 14.0 degrees. The coldest ever Pentecost Sunday was in 1936 when the maximum temperature was 11.6 degrees.
