Suspect shot in taxi driver stabbing

On Sunday The Hague police shot a man suspected of involvement in a stabbing incident in the city earlier that day. Both the suspect and his victim, a 45-year-old taxi driver, were taken to the hospital. According to the police, the stabbing happened around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday on De Savornin Lohmanlaan. The suspect, a 59-year-old man from The Hague, got into the taxi and stabbed the drier numerous times with a sharp object. The victim eventually managed to escape his attacker in his taxi. The suspect fled into a nearby sport park. There officers fired shots while arresting the man. Both suspect and victim were taken to the hospital. The taxi driver was discharged after treatment. The condition of the suspect is unknown. The police are investigating the stabbing. As shots were fired during the arrest, the Rijksrecherche, the department that handles internal investigations at the police, is investigating the arrest.
