Shooting on Amsterdam Noord leaves one hurt, two in custody

One man was hurt Monday afternoon in a shooting on Amsterdam Noord. The man was rushed to an area hospital with leg injuries after first responders found him near the intersection of Papaverweg and Korte Papaverweg. The person who fired the shots around 1:50 p.m. also fled the scene. However, in connection with the incident, two people were arrested a short time later, authorities said. The man and woman turned themselves in at a police station further north in the Amsterdam district. Police officers then noticed a possible “explosive object” in the pair’s car, and held the vehicle for further investigation. The victim in the case was said to be alert, and recovering at the hospital. Police are asking for witnesses to come forward with any information about the shooting.
