Short skirt ban in Amsterdam office quickly rescinded

Amsterdam's city office in Nieuw-West quickly rescinded its no-short-skirts dress code on Wednesday after the media commotion its announcement caused. "Such a ban does not apply", alderman for services Abdeluhem Choho said to the Volkskrant. A manager at the city office sent an email to the female employees informing them of the controversial ban. "From now on I want to make the agreement that ladies wear a skirt or dress that is no shorter than just above the knee. Knee-high boots also do not fit behind the desk. This is the last request I make. The next time I'm sending people home", the email read. The manager was addressed after the email appeared in the media. She will not be fired. According to a spokesperson, it is all about a misunderstanding. "One of the clerks wore very short skirts, so short that you could see her buttocks. That led to uncomfortable situations. Colleagues asked the manager to say something about it, and the email followed", the spokesperson explained. Alderman Choho emphasized that there is no ban on short skirts in any of Amsterdam's city offices. "The only requirement for officials is that clothing must be representative and professional. Employees can decide for themselves."
