Grolsch beer brand officially up for sale

Beer brand Grolsch is officially up for sale, AB InBev and SABMiller announced on Thursday. The reason for the sale is to ease European regulatory' authorities concerns on competition considerations in the AB InBev - SABMiller merge. Italian based Peroni and United Kingdom based Meantime are also up for sale. According to SABMiller's press release, the sale of these three bands are "conditional upon completeion of the AB InBev acquisition of SABMiller." SABMiller will assist in the sales, including preparation of the relevant information for potential buyers. "Under SABMiller's stewardship, Peroni and Grolsch have become world-renowned premium beer brands. Meantime has been a welcome addition to SABMiller and has a growing and loyal fan base", Alan Clark, Chief Executive of SABMiller said in the press release. "These beers are loved by consumers and we are very proud of them. Until the change of control we will continue to invest in growing these great beers and supporting our talented people who brew, sell and manage them." Grolsch can count on sufficient interest from buyers, according to RTL Nieuws. Carlsberg, Molson Coors in America and C&C in Ireland are all candidates for acquisition. There is also the possibility that a private equity investor will take over.
