Anti-Islam Pegida protestors released from jail

All 32 people arrested during the Pediga demonstration in Utrecht on Sunday, have now been released, the Public Prosecutor announced on Monday. The sign confiscated during the protest has also been found not to break any laws. A total of 14 people were arrested because they were unable to provide an identity document. Seven of these cases were handled by the police. The other seven people turned out to have been unjustly detained, according to the Prosecutor. Ten people were arrested for refusing to follow police orders. These suspects were given a fine. One person was arrested for destruction of property. The Public Prosecutor decided that he was unjustly detained. Another five suspects were arrested for disturbing public order and the demonstration and for incitement to violent behavior against the police. They were all fined. One suspect was found to have an outstanding fine. The Public Prosecutor is still investigating once case of a suspect insulting a police officer.
